Prenatal
Breastfeeding Classes
Offered
by the Halton Doula Group, Jean Kouba and Ashley Pickett
Many
mothers move through their pregnancy and birth experience reading
books, collecting knowledge and educating themselves about the
birth they feel is right for them. And then *poof* all of the
book knowledge melts into a new, sleepless world with not enough
time to learn
about your new role - a breastfeeding mother! There it is - a
beautiful little bouncy baby who can very quickly turn into a
ravenous eating
machine...all of which is likely normal, if only someone had
have told you.
In
these breastfeeding classes you will learn about:
-
what
to expect in the first few days and weeks vs the rest of your
breastfeeding relationship
- demand
vs scheduled feeding
- the
importance of the latch
- how
to ensure your baby is getting all the milk he/she is looking
for
- the
relationship between happy babies and full tummies
-
what
to do in special situations (jaundice, hypoglycemia, weight loss)
-
developmental
norms, including a biological need for closeness and skin to
skin contact
- what
to do if you need help
Classes
are offered both private and group setting. Class fees:
$150
